LSI Rises to the Challenge in Complex E-File Conversion Project

Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, a prominent international law firm, engaged LSI in a large electronic file conversion project. This project was particularly challenging, as not all the data provided to LSI was to be converted. The case team, the firm’s client and LSI joined efforts to identify the relevant directories to be produced. In the end, LSI converted approximately 400,000 pages for production.

Greg Kreutzer, Technical Consultant at LSI, comments: “LSI's consultative abilities were critical to sorting through the initial delivery from the client. We were not intimidated by the challenges presented by this problematic document collection project. Instead, LSI developed a course of action that quickly and efficiently aided the client with the organization of an incredibly large volume of data.”

John Mora, the firm’s U.S. Litigation Technology Manager, believes it is LSI’s responsiveness, patience and trustworthiness that made the project a success, and underscores why LSI is a standout in the industry. “LSI provides sound consulting advice,” says Mora. “Their work is highly technical, yet they know how to spoon feed it to lawyers who aren’t tech-savvy. They don’t mind doing some handholding.”

LSI assumed the lead on this project by identifying which employees were the owners of particular files and directories on the hard drive. LSI then created a detailed log of the data contained on the hard drive, which was critical to ascertaining which directories were to be converted. Finally, LSI converted approximately 40 GB's of data after filtering/finding the relevant data on the hard drive.

Despite the intensive, ongoing effort of this project, LSI kept the budget and timeline under control. Siobhan McCarthy, LSI Vice President, comments: “Our focus was not only on filtering a large volume of data for the client, but also on delivering that data in a timely, cost-effective manner.” Mora agrees: “LSI brings considerable technical skills at a reasonable cost, so you get a lot of ‘bang for the buck.’ In my field, trust and confidence are important. I’ve been around long enough to know a straight shooter when I see one, and LSI is a straight shooter. They meet deadlines; they meet cost estimates; and their staff is trustworthy.”
